Asia 2005 Journey
Day Nine
-
Beijing, China
-
-
May 12, 2005: Sandstorm from the Gobi Desert created haze
conditions. The Forbidden City, or now called
-
the Palace Museum, is the main visited area of Beijing. The palace
construction was started in 1407 and is
-
the largest palace complex in the World. A 30 foot high wall and 18
foot deep moat surrounds the complex
-
of 9,999 buildings. Much restoration work is ongoing on the perimeter
buildings. Gold colored roof tiles used
-
as the prominent color by the royal families is being restored to it's
original vibrancy.
